Lieutenant Atul Katarya
Lt Atul Katariya was born on February 21, 1975 in Gurgaon in a family with long army tradition. He showed leadership qualities right from his childhood and always wanted to join army. On 14th Oct 1998, Lt Atul’s unit was chosen to engage the militants in Sangarwani area and Lt Atul was leading the unit. He fought fiercely and killed 4 militants but got shot and was martyred. Lt Atul lived by the ethos, “Service before self” and followed it in his personal life too.
