Major S.M.K Ghori
Major Shafeeq Mahmood Khan Ghori belonged to 172 field regiment and was serving with 30 Rashtriya Rifles in Baramulla district of Srinagar in 2001. On 1st July 2001, Maj Ghori along with his troops launched operation against militants in Boban Watsar forests. He fought bravely against militants but got shot in the process. Though he was injured very badly, he moved one of his critically injured jawans to safety to the jeep, when he breathed his last. During the encounter he showed extreme bravery, compassion for his fellow soldiers and made supreme sacrifice in the best interest of our nation.
