Naib Subedar Kankanwadi D Irappa SM
Naib Subedar Kankanwadi D Irappa hailed from Belgaum district of Karnataka. On 07 April 2014, specific intelligence reports were received about the presence of militants in Zunarishi hamlet of Kupwara district of North Kashmir. After assessing the situation, a joint operation of Army and police in the night was decided in which a fierce gun-battle ensued between the troops and the militants lasting many hours. He got badly injured during the battle and was later succumbed to his injuries and was martyred.
