A 100-year-old building in South Mumbai’s Kalba devi area collapsed after a fire broke out. Fire brigade officials had a tough time reaching the spot through the congested lanes.
Chief Fire Officer Sunil Nasarikar led with his three other brave fire officers – Mr. Sudhir Amin, Mr. M N Desai and Mr.S W Rane from the front bravely. Midway during the firefighting, the burning building collapsed in parts, the debris fell on the firemen. Mr. Nasarikar and his team were trapped inside. These four brave Fire Fighters who lost their lives in firefighting have been decorated with the President’s gallantry medals on the eve of the Independence Day.
