Fallen but not Forgotten!
Martyrs create faith more than faith creates martyrs. They are our – Heroes from Real Life whom we honour every year at the Ample Missiion’s ‘Awards Zindagi Ke’ – a patriotic initiative of Founder Dr Aneel Kashi Murarka.
Here are few real-life stories of the Martyrs whom we honoured during our award show in 2017.
1) In 2001, Major Shafeeq Ghori was martyred in a heroic gun battle with militants during ‘Operation Rakshak’. Today, his wife Mrs Salma Ghori, works with widows and families of army martyrs to heal them of their loss through arts and vocational activities. She plays a positive role of both a mother and a father to her two teenage children.

2) A young woman naval officer with the Indian Navy – Lt. Kiran Shekhawat was martyred in the line of duty in a ‘Dornier crash’ off the Goa coast in 2015. Her father Vijender Shekhawat, a Retired Navy officer, is today reaching out to support education of underprivileged school girls, through ‘Lt.Kiran Shekhawat Foundation’. He says he sees the reflection of his own daughter in them!

3) In 2016, Martyr Lance Naik Chandrakant Galande was amongst the eighteen soldiers who were killed in a major terror attack at an army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri near the Line of Control. His wife, Nisha Galande, lives with her brother’s family in Pune with only a small army pension to survive and educate her two little sons whose smiles gives her some solace occasionally.

4) Lieutenant colonel Santosh Mahadik, who was posthumously honoured by us, laid down his life fighting terrorists in J&K. His wife, Swati, didn’t lose hope. In fact, she herself joined the army as a lieutenant and is now serving her nation. We are very proud of her!

It is an undeniable fact that hundreds of soldiers in the defence forces are martyred every year, leaving behind their families. On this Martyr’s Day let us reiterate to their families how grateful we are to them for the supreme sacrifice done by their loved ones. It’s because of them we are safe and can go about leading our lives uninterrupted.
