If you can’t recycle it – refuse it!
Did you know that every bit of plastic ever made exists somewhere?
Plastic is a man-made pollution, which has reached an alarming situation in the country. Disposable plastics are the greatest source of plastic pollution. Plastic bags, bottles, utensils, lids, cups offer a small convenience but remain forever. The moment you look around Indian streets/alleys, you will find plastic litter everywhere in the form of bags, bottles, wrappers, sachets strewn… shame!

Research indicates that the demand for these plastic items are on increase. This fatal attraction to plastic, coupled with behavioural propensity of over-consuming, littering and thus polluting, has become a combination of lethal nature in our country.

Because of its durability and cost, plastic has become popular among both manufacturers and consumers but at the same time we are paying a heavy price – the impact on our environment and disturbance to the eco-system. While a lot has been reported about the ill effects of the use of plastics, its usage is rampant all over the country despite ban being imposed in many cities though that remains only in theory.

Manufacturing and selling of certain plastic items should be totally discouraged e.g. plastic bags and drinking water bottles, the situation is not completely under the control of authorities. The awareness about plastic as a pollutant is less. Manufacturers and public are less aware of Green Policies, Green Technology and it’s slowly turning into a lethal weapon of environmental wreckage and a pollutant with long-term impact on both nature and human life.
