This martyr’s father is inspiring!

Satbir Singh Yadav volunteers to travel long distances to coach students for their exams

Many of us reach a point in our lives where we realise it’s time to give back to the communities. Volunteering your time for others can be a deeply rewarding experience. Here is a fine example of the father of a martyr, honoured by Ample Misssiion, who is giving back to society in ways.

When a soldier attains martyrdom, the state honours him, and people mourn his loss and light candles in his memory. However, the tragedy of profound loss is borne majorly by the martyr’s family.

When Flight Lieutenant Akash Yadav of the IAF was martyred in a chopper crash in 2010 at Tewang at young age of 24 yrs, his father Satbir Singh Yadav, an army veteran from Haryana, was devastated but decided not to sulk in grief. Instead chose to do his bit for the society to keep his son’s honour and memory alive.

Every evening, he travels the long distance by road to reach out to students in villages to coach them for their forthcoming exams. Thanks to Satbir Singh’s tutoring, one of the girls achieved a distinction in her state board exams. He has been providing them reading materials and books also to aid them in their efforts to succeed.

Satbir Singh says that, “My only wish is that these students get inspired by Akash and some day, the village youth too join the defence forces to serve the country.”

We wish Mr. Satbir all the best for his future endeavours, and encourage everyone to do as small a part as they can to give back to the society.
